🐹 Ethel's New Home 🐹
Let's give a warm welcome to children's author, Kathy Rogo, who is here to tell us about her latest book.
Ethel's New Home is a heartwarming story
about a dwarf hamster who lives in a hamster tank with seven brothers and
sisters. But Ethel has a problem, she is getting tired of having to share all
the time with them. Ethel can't eat, drink, or sleep when she wants because her
brothers and sisters are always in the way. Ethel decides the answer is to
escape from the tank and find a new, more spacious place to live by herself.
What waits outside of the tank for Ethel? Will she ever make her way home
again? A story with a theme that both parents and children will enjoy reading
together especially if they come from a large family.
Let's take a quick look inside....
One
morning after Ethel woke up and stretched, she thought to herself, “I think
I’ll go for a run in the wheel before breakfast.” But when Ethel got to the
wheel, her sister Lucy was already running in it.
“I just
got here!” exclaimed Lucy, huffing and puffing. “I’m sorry, you’ll have to
wait!”
“Okay,” said Ethel. “I guess I’ll just have breakfast.”
But when Ethel got to the food dish, there was Fred and Ricky! There
was not enough room for Ethel to eat out of the food dish, too.
“We just got here,” they said. “We’re sorry, you’ll have to wait.”
Where can I buy this beautiful children's book?
About the author
Kathy Rogo is a hopeful author, originally
from North Hollywood and Woodland Hills, CA. which is part of the San Fernando
Valley north of Los Angeles. Throughout
her childhood, she was always writing stories.
Including The Man From U.N.C.L.E. scripts during the mid sixties which
was her favorite TV show as a child. Of
course she would put a little girl in the stories who would be helping the
secret agents solve their cases. Being
age 12 at the time, the scripts were never submitted and have long since
disappeared. Journaling became the norm
for the next 20 years or so and possibly those notes could become stories one
day as Kathy always had the desire to publish a book. At age 23, she moved to Aspen, CO. in the late 70’s. Writing was put on the back burner for a
while, as learning to ski, partying with friends and eventually having a family
were put in the forefront. Inspiration
for her children’s book Ethel’s New Home came from the pet hamsters her two
sons had. One hamster Ethel in
particular was an amazing escape artist and would always be found unscathed in
some pretty surprising places. Kathy
decided there was definitely a children’s story in that. Still in Aspen, Kathy is a single mom with
two grown sons who are characters in the book, works full time and writes in
her spare time.
