A gripping
story of love found, lost, and rediscovered in a magical way.
Jewel has met
the man of her dreams … the one person with whom she’s meant to spend eternity.
Harley is charming, charismatic, and although he can’t carry a tune in a
bucket, he’s the most gorgeous man she has ever laid eyes upon—especially in
his U.S. Air Force uniform.
Just days after
the couple returns from their honeymoon, Harley is called to active duty in the
Middle East. Jewel is heartbroken but determined to adapt to her new life as a
military spouse and support her husband. Her plan is short-lived when Harley is
killed in action just days after his deployment.
Unable to cope,
Jewel withdraws from her family, friends, and the world around her, until
Harley visits her with a message from the beyond.
Will Jewel
surrender to the dark side to be with her true love, or will she discover that
sometimes people are put in our paths for reasons beyond our understanding?
In my novel, "Unsevered," the
concept of life after death is explored through the experiences of the main
female character, Jewel. She was married to Harley, a soldier in the Air Force.
They had just returned from their honeymoon when he was called to duty in the
Middle East, and killed in action less than one week later.
Jewel is left behind to pick up the pieces. Harley had become her everything. She struggles to deal with his death, withdrawing from everyone and everything around her, even contemplating suicide ... until Harley visits her with a message from the beyond. Jewel learns that life does go on, even if we choose not to live it.
Even though this story is fictional, many elements found within can easily be compared to real-life experiences. Thousands of military spouses experience some of the same emotions, on a daily basis, that Jewel does in this book. Many of them bury their spouses far too soon.
Some people say they don't live their lives for others; but in reality, we all do. If you are a wife, a mother, a sister, a brother, a father, a son, a niece, a nephew, etc.; then, you do live your life for others. You are not the one who will remember all your life experiences with these people once you die. They are the ones left behind with the memories they shared with you. When you leave this earth, you don't take your memories with you.
So think about how you treat those people in your life , while you are still alive! Make time for them, listen to their problems, offer to help where you can; but most of all, be kind. Because, you will be remembered by them, whether in a good way or bad!
