You are going to need a whole box of tissue with you for this book. It is an extremely emotional read, but at the same time it is also somewhat inspirational.
The author has approached Ellie's depiction with a great deal of care and consideration. She explores the reasons why women feel forced to stay with an abusive partner and how dangerous it is when they dare escape the terrible situation. I thought Ellie's story was one that is not only heartbreaking but it also shimmers with hope and encouragement that you can escape if you find yourself in such a situation.
The blossoming romance between Connor and Ellie is very believable and beautifully told.
I thought this novel was something very special and I shall certainly be on the look out for the rest of the books in what promises to be a very exciting series.
