Review

This book is one of two halves - the first half of this novel, which included the prequel, was absolutely amazing - there was tension, mystery, intrigue and a really believable chemistry between Carter and June. It reminded me greatly of James Mangold's movie, Knight and Day - Carter is the one in control and June is completely out of her depth, or is she?! But, the second half of the novel just confused me. We are introduced to another character, Theo, and that is where the story became a little unbelievable for me - suddenly this novel was less about the whole spy mystery thing and instead took a sudden turn into the world of MMF Erotica, where Carter seemed to become a totally different person as did June, which I thought was a little odd and did not really make sense for any of the characters involved, including Theo (even if they were all high on a plant based antidote). There is also a massive debate in the second half of the book about Godly purity and evil thoughts and sinful emotions, which really slowed the story down as it was constantly repeated. There were also times when I had to backtrack and reread as I became throughly confused during June's hallucinations and Carter's monologue to the unconscious June.
I did enjoy reading this book, but I thought the erotica kind of made this story fall a little flat and the cliffhanger ending annoyed me.
