Ten year old Lizzie didn’t know what would become of her the day her mother sent her on an errand and moved the family out of the tenement before Lizzie returned. Now Lizzie must find a way to survive.
Abandoned at ten years of age, Lizzie Strain is taken in from the streets by an old washerwoman where she experiences her first Christmas. Working alongside Granny Eliza she forms a friendship with the likeable Adam Treadwell. Each year Christmas is a time to look forward to. Every Christmas, Lizzie makes the same wish. That her sisters are safe and well.
When an unsavoury person from Lizzie’s past resurfaces, Lizzie’s happiness is snatched away and she finds herself alone on the streets again. Seeking help from Adam, the only friend she can turn to, Adam offers a solution, but a selfish and cruel act causes Lizzie’s life to unravel and she is once again made destitute.
When Adam learns of Lizzie’s fate, he is forced to choose between his own lively-hood or Lizzie.
